Steven A. Jayson is a summa cum laude graduate from Montclair State University and received his Juris Doctor degree from The Penn State Dickinson School of Law. While completing law school, Mr. Jayson worked as a research assistant for Professor Samuel C. Thompson, Jr. and the Center for the Study of Mergers and Acquisitions.  He also worked as a research assistant for Professor Catherine Rogers, who was working for the American Law Institute as a Reporter on the Restatement, Third, The U.S. Law of International Commercial Arbitration.  Mr. Jayson interned for two summers with the Honorable Ned M. Rosenberg of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Special Civil Part in the landlord-tenant division.

Upon completion of law school, Mr. Jayson worked as a Fellow with The Center for the Study of Mergers and Acquisitions.  As a Fellow he prepared an expert witness in a multi-million dollar civil conspiracy litigation case involving tax issues relating to two international corporations, and reviewed Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, the Toxic Asset Repurchase Program (TARP), and cross-border mergers and acquisitions.  Mr. Jayson also reviewed and commented on proposed changes to the rules and regulations relating to the Common Takeover Code and Choice of Law Provisions for the Caribbean Securities Exchange for the Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre (CARTAC), and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Following his Fellowship, Mr. Jayson worked on a multi-billion dollar securities fraud litigation case involving international corporations relating to real estate investment trusts (REITs), where he drafted and edited exhibits to be used by counsel in the matter. His articles on matters concerning arbitration and international tax have appeared in professional journals.  Published articles authored by Mr. Jayson include “Arbitrating White Collar Disputes Employment Arbitration Not Unconscionable Where Meaningful Choice,” “Sixth Circuit Confirms Arbitral Award Despite Prior Relationship Between A Party And Arbitrator,” and “Sixth Circuit Ruled That Broad Arbitration Clauses Can Be Retroactive.”

Mr. Jayson was the managing attorney of The Jayson Law Group LLC, where he routinely assisted and represented Northern and Central New Jersey individuals and businesses in matters of estate planning, small businesses, commercial collections, and landlord-tenant matters.  As managing attorney, his role encompassed intake, document drafting, mediation, litigation, the filing of answers and complaints, the filing of motions and briefs, and the collection of judgments.

In August 2021, Mr. Jayson joined Mellinger Kartzman LLC at 101 Gibraltar Road, Suite 2F, Morris Plains, New Jersey as an Associate Attorney. Mr. Jayson continues his practice, and has increased his Bankruptcy practice, Civil and Commercial litigation practice, and his Business Transactions practice.

In addition to his work as an attorney, Mr. Jayson has also been a speaker for the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) Benchmark on Civics since 2013, and has been a lecturer with the Small Business Development Center – Union presenting on the Legal Aspects of Starting a Small Business in New Jersey.
